Do you want to display "?SYNTAX ERROR" when the boot fails? I don't think this to be good idea. I think I'd rather use KERNAL message like I/O ERROR #x. This would clearly distinguish boot errors from BASIC errors. Besides - I believe KERNAL can do it by itself with proper MSGFLG setting. > No not at boot, from the command line in BASIC.
