This is also documented in the German "Die Floppy 1541" by Karsten
Schramm (shameless plug: available here:
http://www.trikaliotis.net/Book) on page 157.

Interestingly, the book by Karsten Schramm seems to be "heavily
inspired" by the book "Inside Commodore DOS".
