I have compared CBM 610 with both s-video and composite and S-VIDEO DOES make a big difference! Nothing will beat a good mono monitor though ;-) Steve ________________________________ From: Anders Carlsson <anders.carlsson@sfks.se> To: cbm-hackers@musoftware.de Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2013 11:34:40 AM Subject: Re: PET video to VGA Steve Gray wrote: > Also, if the scart TV supports s-video then it might be a thought to use > the luma input for a sharper picture (since there is no chroma on the > PET). Absolutely true! Actually I'm afraid the video quality will be terribly blurry on the LCD TV. I know from personal experience connecting the monochrome output of e.g. a CBM 610 to a 1084 that it made my eyes bleed. I can't recall if I set the 1084 to composite or Y/C mode, but I doubt it mattered. The very same CBM 610 connected with the same cable to a 14" Philips green monochrome monitor on the other hand produced a very crisp display.
