Thanks to Ernie, I now have the protection dongle for the PaperClip64. Thanks Ernie, very generous of you. I had a quick test drive and now the program indeed works. After loading and running the program -where it halts at a blank screen without the dongle- it goes to a copyright screen and then into the editor view. I didn't have time to have a better look, but I get a disk directory and was able to load a sample file from the fisk. The manual states that the printing capabilities are mainly for the "only printers released for the C64 by Commodore" (at the time: 1525 and 1526) so my 1526 would be a perfect pair for this software. Must have a try later. Now that I think of it, I got both the printer and this software from the same guy so they might have even been used together at some time. The connector seems to be glued to the black casing of the dongle, I haven't been able to open it (to see what is inside). The dongle itself is much bigger than I thought (works almost as a small paper-weight as well, looking nicely technical at the same time :) Pics: http://postimg.org/image/w3lgumcqt/ -- Ville Ernie Chorny <chorny@bell.net> kirjoitti 27.6.2014 kello 17.43: > Hi > > I can send you a C64 Paperclip dongle but I can't do it for about 10 days. > > If still interested send me your mailing address. > > Ernie > > > > > On 2014-06-25 11:34 AM, Ville Laustela wrote: >> Hi. >> >> From my archives, I found an original floppy + manual for a program called PaperClip "Professional Word Processor" by Batteries Included. Of course, I don't have that dongle, I got this set from a friend who seems to have lost it. Does anyone have one or schematics for one? Without it, the program loads for awhile but then screen goes blank and it stops there. >> >> Wikipedia article mentions that there was also a key-less version, which I could download, but as a matter of having original disk, it would be interesting to see if this could be made working again. >> >> -- >> Ville L. >> >> >> Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing list >> >> > > > Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing list Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing listReceived on 2014-07-22 19:01:07
