It's a common misunderstanding. Appletalk is a protocol. It was implemented over various types of interfaces. When implemented over rs422 it was called Localtalk, when over ethernet - it was called Ethertalk for example. 

So the more correct naming would be Localtalk cable, which happens to be also a mac serial cable and happens to be also mac printer cable, and...
