Even with a 30 cm cable disk reads are extremely flaky, from both the internal and external drive. So it is not a problem of termination, and the fact that it exhibits itself on both drives means that it's not a problem of the drive either. I suspect now two things: (a) the disk controller in the C65 is broken (which would be strange since it works on Bo's C65) or (b) maybe I did something wrong when soldering the DIN8 connector. I think I need to open the computer again and resolder the connector to see if it changes anything. Regards, Michau.
