Im using the Xilinx Vivado with Mint Linux. Digilent corp in Washington has Xilinx boards. I have the Artix Arty board, barely started with the basics using Verilog, here goes. I talked with a Xilinx agent he told me Xilinx has been phasing out CPLD for 10 years and CPLD is small, so better off using plain FPGA. I was told CPLD supports the older chips though, so would CPLD still be an option? Has anyone here used the Vivado suite software? Vivado has a very long download time, they used to have a link to get the free DVD, now there is a small feedback form where you can pay $30.00 for a memoy card they can put Vivado on, or your reason why you want the DVD. I went with the DVD it took almost 2weeks to be sent from Japan. I found a few older books on Verilog so hopefully I can learn all commands etc. Can one get any coding advice here, I do believe in working out coding problems on your own if you can.
