Whatever the designation, both will have the same space-age styling as the Commodore 64" It looks like VIC-40 was now used for the commodore 64, but US/Germany/Japan all named their computers locally (i.e. VIC20/VC20/VIC 1001) so I wouldn't put too much on any of these namings.
