According to my notes, the CRTC settings for a 50Hz PAL monitor are: Business mode 63, 40, 50, 8, 32, 16, 25, 29, 0, 8, 0, 0, 16, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 Graphic mode 63, 40, 50, 8, 36, 17, 25, 32, 0, 7, 0, 0, 16, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 register 2 is the horizontal sync position. register 3 lower 4 bits are the horizontal sync width. You start counting registers at 0, so registers 2 and 3 contain 50 and 8. Adjusting these registers will affect the horizontal position of your text on the screen. If this does not fix it, then there is too much capacitance on your horizontal sync circuit, or there is too much delay in the circuit.
