Ebay is not really an auction since it has a hard time limit. That 
means, there is only one way to play this game. You place exactly one 
bid with the maximum amount you are willing to pay and you do that as 
close to the end of the auction as you can. I usually manage under 10 
seconds.

This way there will be no bidding wars.
