Well, my PRG tells me that in UltiMax mode of the C64, the C64 _ignores_ the 2 KB extra RAM of the cartridge. So, I _think_ that the memory configuration is as follows: The UltiMax (VIC-10) has 2 KB, going from $0000-$07FF. There are cartridges which have 2 KB of extra RAM, fitting into $0800-$0FFF. AFAIR, (at least) one line of the UltiMax cartridge port has another name than the corresponding line of the C64 cartridge port, that line (or one of these) is used as CS for the external RAM.
