that's exactly what that article said: While in theory, one has to delay
PHI2 for these chips, it is not necessary in practice.

I think that article said that *every* member of the 65xx/68xx series not
specifically designed for use in a C64 would suffer from that problem. So,
in fact, the 6510, 6526, 6581, 6567/6569 would not be *real* members of the
65xx family.

Anyway, I never have done tests with that.
