Hola,

Could someone give me an accurate technical explanation of how d418 works,
and why that makes digis softer on later-model SIDs?

I understand hueristically what the issue is, and I know how to overcome
it, but I could use an accurate explanation of why it happens (to put into
C=Hacking).

I realize this has been explained zillions of times, but I couldn't find
the info via a web search or on the usual sites.
