I think Robin used a similar setup a while back when writing some PPP code, and vaguely recall that debugging was very difficult because doing a freeze would trigger the swiftlink and drop data. But in both cases this is my memory we're talking about, and there is a reasonable probability that I'm remembering stuff totally wrong.
