If I remember correctly, this can be triggered by pressing a large number
of keys simultaneously. The computer won't produce any characters, but it
will blink the cursor much faster.
Maybe you should integrate a custom keyboard scanner with your routines.
I've written a good one that won't think that F is pressed down when the
three keys A, S and D are pressed down simultaneously.
