I don't know if this will help you, but some time ago I coded an ASCII text viewer for the C64 and the C16/C116/Plus/4. It was included in the SIDWinder music editor package, and you'll find it here: http://www.funet.fi/pub/cbm/c64/audio/editors/SIDwinder_V0123_C64.d64.gz and http://www.funet.fi/pub/cbm/c64/audio/editors/SIDwinder_V0123_src.zip.
