It is based on the 8051. That is not the same as "it is an 8051".
IIRC the Basic for the 2001 was from Microsoft. And the Basic for all other
CBM/PETs etc. are based on it. (Or am I absolutely wrong?) If I have to
choose I rather prefer "Intel inside" above "Microsoft inside" :)
