Oh, you also can do bit-banging under Linux...
As Georg Acher recently told me, he reworked the Linux USB stack to now be
completely Linux-independent (goal is to include it into the XBox free
BIOS, if I got him right), i.e. not necessarily requiring any OS-dependent
calls. So no need to write stuff from scratch here.
Now if there'd be a way to slam a PCI card to a C64 :)
