Reading the text: Yes, that is exactly what the two boards do. There is no storing of information. From this, I conclude that they are written often enough. This obviously will be true when doing disc accesses, anyway, I'm not sure if it is true if the drive is idle. Possibly, the job queue will access these RAM areas regularly if idle, but I'm not sure.
