Commodore Modems - C1660 and C1670Hi Nick, You shouldn't have any problems. The Australian phone system is pretty close to the US system, the only difference is in the frequency of dial tone and engaged tone signals which can cause some US modems not to detect those signals here. Other differences were Telecom/Telstra used to require more stringent phone line isolation that often meant equipment had to be modified by importers and submitted for approval, don't know if they still do. Anyway, you won't cause any exchange meltdowns :) Mike -----Original Message----- From: owner-cbm-hackers@cling.gu.se [mailto:owner-cbm-hackers@cling.gu.se]On Behalf Of ncoplin@orbeng.com Sent: Wednesday, 28 January 2004 3:22 PM To: cbm-hackers@cling.gu.se Subject: Commodore Modems - C1660 and C1670 Hi All, I've received a few of these and before plugging into the Australian telephone system - and having Telstra issue me a bill for $$$$ damages - I was wondering how universal these modems were. Was the modem different for different markets? The ones I have came from the USA.
