Is this assumption correct? Not necessarily. The 1541 clone Oceanic OC-118N contains a 23128 ROM (not sure if it's PROM or mask-programmed ROM) with the CMD logo stamped on it. Some of the data or address lines are permuted, presumably because earlier versions of the drive had an unauthorized copy of CBM DOS. > I knew that already.
