I cheated for now, and created an ioport2 module that is 2 bits in size, and wired it to PORTB and PORTC. After synthesis, it shows 32 MCs used, 54 MC, 92 Pterms, 24 registers (makes sense), and 26 pins in use. The autofitter chose 9536(xl), which is good. I'm awaiting a few 5V XC9536-10 (yep, actual 5V Xilinx logic CPLD) ICs, and am hopeful to try it out. I need to test and see if the unused bits on the 6523T databus read as 0, or are truly undefined.
