The text in this link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/stop-ignoring-reply-to/ seems to say that this is actually a change in later versions of thunderbird. This would explain why the problem seems to related to thunderbird. Could those using thunderbird try the addon?
