I've actually bought some untested or tested failed stuff that only had
simple problems, like a short circuit a 1000µF capacitor in the PSU and
fallen-out char rom in a kit of a C128 and a working (but untested by
the seller due to lack of a working computer) 1571.

Anyways, we can't predict the prices in the future. It could either
rise due to more and more people getting into vintage computers and/or
the existing equipment at enthusiasts fails. Or the prices could go
down.

Looking at home electronics, it seems like equipment that's up to a
good standard by todays measurements are worth some money, but for
example mono radio grammophones are really hard to get any money for
at all and mono reel to reel tape recordes aren't worh much either.

Of course it's a matter of size too. A prediction is that at some point
in the rather near future, most CRT TV's that haven't found it's way to
vintage computer/video games people will have been scrapped and then
the prices for CRT TV's might actually go up from todays about 0. (The
only exception at least in Sweden is Bang & Olufsen CRT TV's because
everyone in the vintage computer/video games community knows that they
give about the best picture a CRT TV can give. It's a shame that people
only stare about the brand as there were several other CRT TV's that
also gave excellent picture).

Back to the 6526: Actually making a small production run might keep the
prices for real 6526 IC's down for a while. The market will know the
cost of a replacement and thus there will probably not be any crazy
high prices.
