It works on mine but other people report they have to shorten the cable for the cartridge port. There are a lot of internal changes that could affect timing and the behavior of the SCPU I’d think. The EXPANSION port on the SX is unreliable for things required precise timing. Cartridge KERNAL replacements are a good example. I recall we discussed it once here and it is said to boil down to the ribbon cable. Shortening might help as you mention. Maybe some form of termination or running 80-wire one...
