just for info, a while ago i started tracking the state of rs232 emulation 
here: https://vice-emu.pokefinder.org/index.php/RS232 ...

i think i have done what you want to do before... by creating a fifo device, 
and then use that in both vice and another program. worth a try anyhow :)
