If I remember correctly, there was a crystal and some circuitry necessary
for DRAM refresh, even if the host computer is powered down.

I was referring the word, 'concept' to that of an 'idea'. Just emulate
the idea of a battery backed REU. Meaning that all the VICE developers
have to do is to just allow the user to save the contents of the REU for
later usage. Just don't bother to actually emulate the battery and
whatever circuitry is needed to keep it powered in case the host computer
is powered down.

Keep it simple here... :)
