Off topic, but it reminds me of the sprite hardware on the arcade game popeye by nintendo. There is only one sprite shift register, so once it starts displaying a sprite then it cuts off the one to the left. But color 0 is transparent & will show the background. So if you put real sprites behind the characters then they will show where there aren't character pixels but your VASYL overlay will cut off other characters that it goes over.
