Yes, the drive works just fine on the PET. I've subsequently installed OpenCBM and 'CBM Copy' (GUI) on a Windows machine and having a bit more success. This is the same nominal version as the Linux build, but on Windows I get some meaningful responses from the 4040. It will format, but I'm still unable to, e.g. list directory. Next, I hooked up the 1571 to the Windows machine. Now when I go to format the 1571 it asks if I want double or single sided. If I select single sided, the image writes to it correctly and can be read on a 4040 drive when attached to the PET.
