Well, if I can't sell enough VIC-20 versions to get rid of the fairly expensive Flash ROM chips (the price I got from the local distributor is about 20 EUR a piece, including tax), I'll probably create a C64 version that lacks the 32k RAM. > As for finding chips, have you tried asking for a sample straight from > AMD? Yes, I've talked to their importer on phone, and it was no surprise to me that they don't sell directly to smaller companies than Nokia. And not so surprisingly, Nokia doesn't need that big 5-volt Flash ROMs, as their phones use 3-volt logic. > ELFA has a 5V, 2 MB, MBM29F016-90PFTN in SO44, but no 4 MB chip (I just > called and checked). > > www.in-time.se has 29F032B120SC in quantities of 10, but you have to > register to get a quote. Thanks for the detective work! The 120SC would be 120 ns, SO44, commercial temperature range. I guess I'll simply take the risk and order 37 or 51 chips from my local supplier, if I at least 30 people show their interest in advance. Marko Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing list
