Hi All >> I also noticed that when sending UI- to a 1571 drive in 1571 mode, >I think it has been discussed elsewhere (in comp.sys.cbm?) whether >the UI- mode/command is properly implemented on 1571 or not. Indeed the VIC20 doesn't issue any special commands, it uses the drive in the condition that it is found. The 1571 mode (including JiffyDOS implementation) is seeming missing support for the UI-, but also some of the other relatively simple options. When making the transfer direct routines from 1541 ==>> 64HDD, I found that some of the commands I was (eg plain UI) would not generate an error, but would not do anything either! BTW: The -faster and -fastest commandline options for 64HDD only compensate for software latency (slow code execution speed) on very slow PCs... they serve no benefit on anything faster than a 486sx33 and so shouldn't be used as they corrupt the timing between bits and this may cause the data transfer to hang should sprites be on the screen etc. - Nick - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Your Engineering Solutions Provider http://www.orbeng.com.au/orbital/engineeringServices/engServices.htm - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - PLEASE TAKE NOTE: The contents of this email (including any attachments) may be privileged and confidential.
