You do need to use a good quality disk if you are going to use DD disks. I prefer Verbatim. DISCLAIMER: I have no connection with Verbatim. Also, after disks (or any magnetic recording medium) have been rewritten many times, they build up a residual background signal that may interfere with being read. The fix is the bulk eraser.
