To be honest: Now, I did not completely understand. Just to be sure we understand ourselves correctly: After writing to the disk, we wait for the next SYNC mark before trying to read anything from the disk, thus, we wait some time for letting the mechanics and the electronics "settle down". If there were some delay in the mechanics (there might be!), then this delay would be always there whenever we read, wouldn't it? Thus, we would see this behaviour always.
