As far as I understand, there are at least three internally different pinouts on the AppleTalk 8-pin mini-DIN. http://www.interfacebus.com/Apple_MiniDIN_PinOut.html Assuming those are straight connected (TXD to TXD etc) it still is possible that some pins might be NC in your cable, which might be an issue when used as a drive cable between the Commodore 65 and floppy drive, in case it expects all wires to be connected.
