You can indeed implement JD in your own code.  But, whereas the sd2iec 
could do so with impunity, as it's a different CPU architecture at a 
different CPU speed, the 6502-based solutions will have a tougher go.  
THere are only so many ways to capture and store 4 2-bit chunks of data 
from a single CIA or VIA port in 40uS.  Thus, by constraint, I believe 
all implementations will share much of the same code.
