I know that some micro-controllers are read protected and I don't know if that is the case with Intel's 8-series. Next step: finding a disassembler. Intel's 8048 series didn't have any code protection. They can be dumped with a pinout adapter on an eprom reader, but you need to supply a clock to the MCU.
