I've worked with D80/D82s with C1541 using my CBM-Transfer GUI. I didn't notice anything different for D80. I know C1541 does (or did) have issues writing non "PRG" type files. Can you give me more info about the problems you're having? which version of C1541 are you using?
DirMaster is a great disk image manipulation program.

Is there any PC software that can be used to write PRG files into D80
and D82 disk images? So far I have been using the c1541 utility from
VICE, until I found today that it does not work correctly on D80 images
(D82 work fine). Is there any alternative?
