I use the c1541 utility version 4.1 in my toolchain to create MS-DOS
disks. The exact procedure is as follows:

1. Format an empty disk in my drive.
2. Allocate the blocks that correspond to the MS-DOS disk image, using
"BLOCK-ALLOCATE" DOS command.
3. Download the disk image to my PC using cbmlink (actually only tracks
38-39 are needed here).
4. Use c1541 to place three PRG files on the disk: "BOOT" (1 block),
"6509" (7 blocks) and "8088" (14 blocks).

When working with a D80 image, the "8088" file is not placed correctly -
its starting sector in the directory listing is off and points to some
random sector in the 38 track (as examined by c1541's own "chain"
command). The disk drive hangs when reading this file. When doing the
same with a D82 image, everything works fine.

Could the error be caused by creating the initial disk on a 8250
switched into 8050 mode, as opposed to a "real" 8050? Or by
pre-allocating some sectors in the BAM?

Regards,
Michau.
